The Story Behind Nurtari: Nurturing All the Parts of You

When I set out to create Nurtari, I wanted more than just a name. I wanted a word that reflected the heart of what we do — helping people feel whole, cared for, and connected to themselves in every way.

The name Nurtari comes from the idea of “nurturing all the parts of you.” It represents the belief that true healing happens when we tend to the whole person — mind, body, and spirit — not just one part at a time.

At Nurtari Therapy & Wellness, we work with the complexity of being human — the ways our histories, emotions, bodies, and relationships intertwine. We support people navigating trauma, dissociation, eating disorders, sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, and relationship challenges, with the understanding that each of these experiences impacts every layer of who we are. Healing means gently reconnecting with all of those parts — even the ones we’ve had to silence — and learning to care for them with compassion and respect.

Our client offerings include individual therapy, couples therapy, and meal support sessions that bridge clinical insight with real-world nourishment and embodiment. Relationships are at the center of our work — not only the ones we have with others, but also the one we cultivate within ourselves.

For those seeking trauma-informed therapy, our approach integrates EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Experiencing® (SE) — modalities that honor the connection between mind and body. These approaches support nervous system regulation, internal harmony, and the restoration of resilience.

Our offerings for clinicians include Somatic Experiencing® personal sessions for credit with Somatic Experiencing International, licensure supervision in Missouri and California, and consultation for those pursuing Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) credentials.

At Nurtari, nurturing all the parts of a person is intentional. From our treatment philosophy to the details of our environment, every element is designed to support growth and connection. We’re committed to increasing access to care through in-network therapy options, evening appointments, a sliding fee scale, and a location across from a park — inviting clients to deepen their self-care by bookending sessions with moments in nature.

As Nurtari grows, we’ll continue to expand our offerings in ways that deepen this commitment to whole-person care. Each new service will stay true to our mission: to create a space where every part of you feels seen, supported, and nurtured.

Because Nurtari is more than a practice — it’s an invitation to come home to yourself, again and again.
